A Look Back at 2013
2013 was another busy, successful, exciting year at ONA: we launched five new styles, welcomed a new team member and traveled all over the country (and globe!) to promote our brand. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to create products that we love to use ourselves, and to work with so many talented, creative people: we truly love the work that we do, and so much of that is because of our amazing customers. Thank you for supporting ONA this year–we appreciate you! Here’s a look back at our highlights of 2013.
We kicked off January with a 2013 planning session in our New York City office, where we set plenty of ambitious goals for ONA. We’re happy to report that a year later, we’ve nearly completed or exceeded all of them!
The ONA design team traveled to our factory in the Dominican Republic to work on samples for new styles. Over the course of the year, we made several trips to our factory to work on new style development and production.
We headed out to Las Vegas for our very first trade show! WPPI was a great opportunity to introduce the ONA brand to a large audience of passionate wedding and portrait photographers, many of whom had never heard of ONA before.
We welcomed a dedicated customer care and sales manager to the team. Jillian has been instrumental in ensuring that customers receive top-quality care, as well as nearly doubling our retail partner locations in the United States. Thank you, Jillian!
We took to the streets, rooftops and living rooms of New York City to shoot campaign videos that featured a few of the city’s fabulous photographers. Andrew Ryan Shepherd always produces beautiful work, and we relish the opportunity to meet new creatives.
ONA celebrated three awesome years and the launch of five new products with a gathering of a few of our favorite photographers, bloggers and retailers in New York City. It was wonderful to see so much talent in one room, and we are so grateful for all the connections we’ve made in the past few years.
Founder Tracy Foster traveled to Beijing for a meeting with the distributor who represents ONA in Hong Kong and China, and bookended her visit with time exploring Hong Kong and relaxing in Thailand. She shared her favorite photos of the trip in our inaugural Travel Journal feature.
We instituted quarterly “field trips” as a fun aspect of ONA company culture: our first afternoon trip was spent sailing to the Statue of Liberty! The Brixton was also highlighted in Travel + Leisure as their favorite camera bag on the road.
The ONA team headed crosstown to Lincoln Center to go behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week. We also put together a fun video of the fashion editors, photographers, street style stars and ONA bags we spotted outside the runway.
After our success at WPPI in Las Vegas in March, we decided to check out a trade show a little closer to home. We exhibited with B&H on the floor at Photo Plus Expo, as well as partnered with Leica for their off-site S-System Studio Events.
We headed back out west for the 100:50:1 photo show, an event that highlighted the world’s most talented mobile portrait photographers and benefited 100 Cameras. While we were in San Francisco, we sponsored the 100:50:1 Photo Walk and were blown away by the number of photographers who showed up and the quality of the portraits they captured on iPhones.
Along with Leica, ONA sponsored the Miami Street Photography Festival. Taking place the same weekend as Art Basel Miami, it was a fantastic chance to connect with photography and style influencers as well as soak up a little bit of Florida sun.
Thanks again for supporting ONA in 2013! We’re looking forward to a wonderful 2014.
I absolutely LOVE this year in review and of course the pictures!!! Congrats Tracy on another wonderful year! Wishing you continued success in 2014. I need to get me a nice camera so I can purchase one of these bags to put it in
The only thing missing is a picture of me and Seal…
